On the 29th of July 2023, the town of Selebi Phikwe witnessed an extraordinary event that not only showcased sporting excellence but also left a profound impact on the community. The 6th Orange Phikwe National Marathon (OPNM) once again demonstrated its status as a World Athletics certified marathon, bringing together participants, sponsors, and the general public in a celebration of determination, unity, and the pursuit of greatness. The OPNM's race day was filled with excitement and adrenaline as runners from all walks of life gathered to conquer the challenging 10km, 21.1km, and 42.2km routes. Participants pushed their limits, leaving nothing but sheer determination on the tarmac. The results were breathtaking, with the winners of each category etching their names in the annals of sporting history.
Marathon Category Top 3
In the Women's 42.2KM category, Sheila Saina's awe-inspiring performance led her to claim the top spot, earning her a well-deserved cash prize of 25,000 Pula. Among the Men's 42.2KM category, Flavio Sehotlhe stood tall as the victor, also taking home a cash prize of 25,000 Pula. Kitsiso Joseph and Montshiwa Raokgathilwe triumphed in the Women's and Men's 21.1KM categories, respectively, earning 7,500 Pula each.

The OPNM was more than just a race; it was a collaborative effort between the Orange Foundation and the community of Phikwe and surrounding villages. The second Women’s Digital Centre was launched a day before the marathon, in partnership with Humana People For People. Together, they have built a legacy that extends far beyond the marathon.
