Orange Money Botswana is running a promotional competition open to all registered customers aged 18 and above. The campaign offers a total prize pool of P1,110,000, with daily, monthly, and grand prizes. Participants automatically enter by making eligible transactions—airtime recharges of P30+, bundles of P20+ & Konnecta bundles—via USSD or the Max it app during specified hours on weekdays. Winners are selected through a randomized process, with daily winners receiving cash prizes up to P1,000, monthly winners receiving P15,000, and one grand prize of P150,000 awarded at the end of the competition. Multiple wins are possible, and winners are notified via SMS and announced on social media, with prizes credited directly to their Orange Money accounts or bank accounts.

Participation & Eligibility

• Eligible Transactions: All airtime recharges of P30 and above, and bundles of P20 and above (including mobile voice/data bundles, fixed broadband subscriptions, Konnecta bundles) initiated via USSD *145# or the Max it app.
• Transaction Timing: Only transactions made between 08:00 and 23:59 on weekdays (Monday to Friday) are eligible for the daily prizes.
• Exclusions: Transactions outside the specified hours, transactions linked to Orange or Orange Money staff, customers under the age of 18 and transactions by foreign residents without valid permits or passports.
• Multiple Entries: Customers can participate multiple times per day; transacting more increases chances of winning.

 

Winner Selection & Draw Process

• Daily Draws
  • Mechanism: A locally developed counter called TransactNWin records all eligible transactions during the day.
  • Selection: Every 681st transaction is automatically selected as a winner, with the 18 winners of the day chosen based on this sequence.
• Process: 
  • The system resets daily.
  • The selection is automated and integrated with the kaabu_collect server.
  • Winners are credited directly into their Orange Money accounts.
  • Prize Crediting: Winners are notified via SMS and credited automatically.
• Monthly Draws
  • Timing: Every First Tuesday following the 25th of each month at 11:00 AM.
• Process: 
  • The Business Intelligence (BI) team extracts transaction data for the previous month.
• Filters applied: 
  • Transactions for airtime of P30+ and bundles of P20+, 
  • Customers aged 18 and above 
  • Excludes any numbers linked to Orange and Orange Money staff 
  • Random selection of 3 winners using a computerized generator.
  • Winners are contacted via phone; if unreachable, attempts are made to contact next of kin.
  • Winners are credited within 7 working days of being contacted into their Orange Money accounts.
  • Winners' names are published on Orange and Orange Money Botswana’s Facebook pages with their consent.

Grand Prize Draw

• Timing: November 27, 2026, at 15:00.
• Process: 
  • Similar to the monthly draw but covering the entire campaign period.
  • All eligible transactions from May 25, 2026, to November 6, 2026, are included.
  • The winner is selected via a random process in the presence of Internal and External Auditors.
  • The grand prize of P150,000 is credited within 7 working days into the winner’s bank account or nominated account.
  • If the winner does not have a bank account, they must provide written consent for payment to a next of kin or nominated individual.

  • Notification: Winners are notified via SMS and announced on Orange and Orange Money Botswana’s Facebook pages after obtaining their consent.
  • Documentation: All winners’ details are recorded and kept confidential, complying with Botswana’s Data Protection Act 2024.
  • Prize Claim Period: Winners have three months to claim their prizes; unclaimed prizes may lead to a redraw after reporting to the Gambling Authority.

  • Independent Oversight: Grant Thornton will oversee the draw processes, verify fairness, and issue a report confirming randomness and adherence to rules.
  • Audit & Verification: Internal auditors verify winners’ eligibility, ensuring no staff win.
