Director – Strategy, Performance and Data Enablement

Orange invites dynamic, forward-thinking professionals to apply for the strategic role of Director – Strategy, Performance and Data Enablement. Reporting directly to the CEO, the successful candidate will spearhead the business strategy formulation, execution and monitoring, driving performance management discipline, and embedding data enablement across Orange Botswana.


The main duties include but are not limited to:

As the Director of Strategy, Performance and Data Enablement, you will be responsible for:


1. Strategy Development & Execution

  • Lead the development of the organization’s long-term strategy, priorities, and strategic initiatives. 
  • Ensure the strategy is validated and endorsed by Executive Management and the Board of Directors. 
  • Effectively cascade the strategy throughout the organization to ensure alignment and understanding at all levels. 
  • Translate strategic objectives into actionable execution plans, establishing clear milestones, governance structures, and accountability mechanisms. 
  • Monitor the progress and delivery of strategic initiatives, recommending adjustments based on business performance, data insights, and market dynamics. 
  • Support the Executive Committee (EXCO) with strategic insights, scenario planning, business intelligence, and data-driven decision-making. 
  • Embed data analytics into strategic planning processes to facilitate evidence-based prioritization and investment decisions.


 2. Performance Management & Analytics

  • Define and maintain organizational KPIs, scorecards, and performance dashboards aligned with strategic objectives. 
  • Implement and oversee a robust strategy management system that leverages big data analytics for effective reporting and monitoring.
  • Establish strong data governance and reporting standards to ensure the accuracy, consistency, and integrity of performance data. 
  • Lead business performance reviews, providing data-driven insights into performance gaps, risks, trends, and opportunities for improvement.

    
3. Business Data Enablement & Governance

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive data enablement framework to enhance data quality, accessibility, and usability across the organization.
  • Implement and manage advanced dashboard reporting tools, collaborating with the IT & Digital teams and business leaders to strengthen data architecture, system integration, and reporting capabilities.
  • Promote the adoption of analytics, automation, and advanced data tools to improve decision-making, operational efficiency, and customer insights.
  • Establish clear data ownership, stewardship, and governance structures to ensure compliance, data integrity, and consistency.
  • Ensure all data initiatives are governed through well-defined business cases, prioritization frameworks, ROI tracking, and measurable value delivery.

4. Transformation & Change Leadership

  • Lead performance and data-driven transformation initiatives that improve efficiency, agility, customer experience, and competitiveness.
  • Develop and execute change management plans to support adoption of analytics tools, reporting platforms, and new performance disciplines.
  • Build data literacy across leadership and functional teams to enable effective use of insights in decision-making.
  • Engage stakeholders, manage resistance, and support leadership teams in embedding a data-driven culture.
  • Promote innovation and continuous improvement as part of organizational culture.


5. Team leadership, Governance & Reporting

  • Lead and develop the Strategy, Performance and Data Enablement team, including areas of analytics and reporting capabilities.
  • Manage budgets for strategic and data initiatives and ensure precise delivery.
  • Ensure accurate documentation, governance discipline, structured communication, and compliance with data governance standards.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Master’s in strategic management, Business Administration, Digital Transformation or related field.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in strategy, performance management, transformation or digital transformation leadership.
  • Proven experience delivering strategic initiatives and large-scale change programmes.
  • Strong stakeholder management experience at executive level.
  • Teleco / fintech / digital services experience is an advantage.
