Legal and Regulatory Affairs Specialist
Reporting to the Director – Legal and Regulatory Affairs, the incumbent will be responsible for ensuring identification, prevention and treatment of legal and regulatory risks and providing protection of the company's interests.
The main duties include but are not limited to:
- Draft and interpret legal documents to ensure that company’s full legal interests are protected.
- Provide legal advice and opinions
- Conduct research, write papers and advocate for company position
- Give accurate and timely legal advice to executives on variety of legal topics (Labour, marketing, technical, finance, procurement, property, anti-money laundering, anti-corruption etc.)
- Craft and duly update internal policies relevant to the department
- Communicate and negotiate with external parties (suppliers, regulators, external lawyers, public authority etc), building relations of trust.
- Keep track and advise on new laws/regulations and any amendments to existing ones and duly update the same on the Obligations Register
- Provide trainings on all legal related matters
- Maintain safe custody of all legal documentation including all contracts of OBW
- Actively utilize group approved AI tools in undertaking tasks
- Attend to all regulatory requests within the set timelines
- Ensure timely submission of all regulatory reports
- Attend and actively participate in all regulatory stakeholder consultation events
- Conduct compliance monitoring reviews to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations and verify effectiveness of set controls
- Build and maintain good relationships with all relevant stakeholders (Regulators, government, group etc)
Skills:
- Excellent Knowledge and understanding of local and relevant international laws and regulations
- Full comprehension of the influences of the external environment of a corporation.
- Ability to create legal defences or proactive strategies.
- High degree of professional ethics and integrity.
- Ability to analyse situations and information.
- Outstanding communication skills (both written and Oral)
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Law
- 4 years’ experience in Law field.
- Strong expertise in commercial law, with proven track record of success in these areas
- Experience in litigation
- Additional experience in data protection is highly desirable
