Assistant Accounting Manager

To co-drive the accounting team and bring experience and knowledge to increase the level of the Team


The main duties include but are not limited to:

  • Ensure the adherence to the accounting policy by all relevant Departments
  • Co-driving accounting team, ensure that monthly and yearly closing period are correctly managed
  • Ensure that Receivables, Payables, Fixed assets, leases, Cash & Bank are correctly 
  • processed and accounted by the team 
  • Ensure the coordination with controlling team and all relevant operational departments
  • Work closely with the team managing the ERP in Senegal to ensure reconciliations of 
  • accounts and balances
  • Prepare of interim and yearly Financial Audit of OBW and OM accounts
  • Establish and maintain Financial Accounts for OBW on monthly and yearly basis
  • Organize the Receivables, Payables, Reporting and Cash & Bank department to deliver 
  • clean accounts and reconciliation with ERP
  • Act as an interface between suppliers and other relevant departments on the accounting and payment processes.
  • Monitor cash through receivable and payables and working capital
  • Provide analysis requested by controlling on monthly accounts
  • Work closely with other financial departments to manage accounts and financials
  • Make sure that all Purchase Orders are processed timeously within the Company and 
  • payments made in time and reconciled with ERP System
  • Communicate any delay or potential delay on payments with relevant stakeholders
  • Manage reconciliations on accruals and related parties with relevant external and internal companies
  • Manages leases updates.
  • Operate with the highest standards of integrity.
  • Follow all the Company’s policies and procedures.
  • Perform any other duties required by your designated manager

 

Skills:

  • Strong Accounting skills: Strong experience in accounting position in a big company. Having managed ideally Payables, Fixed Assets and Leases
  • Closing period long experience: experience in managing monthly and yearly closings with all accounting departments as well as controlling departments to align and prepare the financial audit period
  • Management Skills: ability to coordinate and manage a team, to monitor their work, to advice and challenge them
  • Analytical Thinking: Strong capability to assess financial issues within accounting and with other departments such as controlling
  • Capacity to work with other departments; operational departments as well as financial departments
  • Attention to Detail; Ensuring accuracy in documentation, specifications, and procurement processes.
  • Technical Proficiency; Familiarity with ERP systems, and digital tools.
  • Audit skills: being able to manage internal audit and external audit assessments and answer questions from auditors
  • Initiative and ability to work independently and as a team
  • Good knowledge of the business and external environment
  • Project coordination and organisational skills.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Master’s degree and ideally BICA or ACCA degree or equivalent
  • At least 10 years’ experience in Accounting and Finance
  • Financial Reporting & Analysis: Expertise in preparing and analysing core financial statements, including balance sheets and income and cash flow statements.
  • Operational Accounting: Hands-on experience with managing the general ledger and overseeing daily operations like accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: The ability to assist in creating budgets, monitor performance against them, and develop financial forecasts.
  • Auditing & Compliance: A deep understanding of accounting principles like GAAP or IFRS, with experience in both internal and external audits to ensure regulatory compliance.
