Orange FA Cup Final
In a clash that was rich in history for both clubs and a Cup that would really seal the season as a success for the remaining FA Cup teams, the stage was set for a mouthwatering head-to-head meet between Orapa United (The Ostriches) and Township Rollers (Mapalastina /Popa).
The fact that Township Rollers are current League Champions and were also chasing a domestic double showed the magnitude of the cup final. Their nemesis Orapa United was seeking to be the first team to win The Orange FA Cup, solidify its position in the Premier League at 3rd, plus also show that the coach is the best in the country.
The two teams have had a beautiful run into the final. The tournament saw Chobe and Bobonong host their biggest football match ever. In the semi-final match leading to the Final, Township Rollers (Mapalastina/Popa) faced Kazungula Fighters in what was referred to as David v Goliath clash in the Chobe area. Rollers could only score a single goal to secure a place in the final. On the other hand, the Ostriches gave Peace Makers of Bobonong a few peaceful lessons by putting the ball in the net 10 times.
Captain Omatla Kebatho, who is also the top goal scorer with 6 goals, will lead the Ostriches. Keagile Kgosipula of Rollers went into Saturday final with a clean sheet, not having conceded a goal since the tournament started. For all the tickets, CompuTicket distributed through Shoprite, USave and OK Furniture stores.
The game lived up to expectations and in the end Orapa United hoisted the FA Cup Trophy with a 3 – 0 over the Township Rollers squad. Music and entertainment made for an amazing atmosphere in the stadium.
