How do I insert my SIM card?

You have just bought a mobile phone. You must insert a SIM card into the phone in order to enjoy all its functionalities.

The SIM card (Subscriber Identity Module) is a microchip containing a microcontroller and the memory. It is used in mobile telephony to store information specific to the subscriber of a mobile network, especially for GSM, UMTS and LTE networks.

 

To insert a SIM card, please follow the steps below.

Note:  These steps may vary depending on the brand and model of your mobile, if you have any problems please refer to your mobile’s user guide.

Prerequisites: You must switch off your phone before inserting or removing the SIM card

  • View the manufacturer’s diagram to find where the SIM slot is located.
  • If the SIM slot is located under the battery:
  • Remove the battery cover located on the back of the mobile
  • Lift and remove the battery
  • Insert the SIM card into the location provided making sure that you properly align the cut-off corner of the card, with the card’s microchip facing downwards
  • Reassemble the battery
  • Reassemble the back cover
  • If the SIM slot is located on the side compartment of the mobile:
  • Use the SIM card extractor key supplied in the manufacturer’s box or, failing this, use a paper clip to insert into the hole next to the compartment and exert light pressure to extract the compartment from its slot
  • Place the SIM card in the compartment, making sure that it is the right way round
  • Slide the SIM card’s compartment back into the mobile until its secured.

Prerequisites: You must use the extraction key supplied in the original packaging to insert the nano-SIM card. Failing this, use the unfolded end of a paper clip.

On the upper section of the mobile:

  1. Insert the end of the extraction tool into the housing dedicated to the SIM card.
  2. Pull out the nano-SIM card housing.
  3. Insert the nano-SIM card into its housing.
  4. Reassemble the SIM card housing into the mobile starting with the thinnest section, until its secured.

  • Remove the rear cover
  • Remove the battery by lifting it out.
  • Install the micro-SIM in its housing while ensuring that the metal contact area faces downwards.
  • Replace the battery and rear cover

You can now switch your mobile on.
